Let’s Move Forward

I try to decipher the difference between the past and the future but this exercise is turning me into what I cannot explain. I ask my self many questions but I could not get any answer. Does the past decide the future? How can you forgive and forget people and yourself? History is a land where future lessons her learnt. My friends tell me that forget the past and move on but I ask: do we easily forget the past? To live in the present doesn’t mean that memory can be deleted.

How do people who loose loved ones move forward? How do people who have committed nefarious crimes move forward? How do you forget that HOLY man who slept with your wife? That guy who killed your only son? Will these kinds of events shape or mar one’s future. In other to move forward I believe one must suffer a little kind of pain. “No pain No gain”, or “no past no future”.

Let’s move forward. How? One of my best friends on face book said you have to be able to control your ego to move forward and hope for a better tomorrow. To an extent that’s true but how? You stand and confront your past but if you allow your past take a walk with you into the future then you’ll be doomed. I was once innocent, turned bad, and now I’m craving for those innocent pasts which I believe will move me forward. So? This world is a complex circle. Why do we need historians if the past is not important? What do we filter and keep?

When does one really draw the line? I really need some education I believe.

  1. FIRSSSSST!!!

This piece got me thinking and finally reaching the peak of confusion. Finally, after much effort, I climbed down that peak and found myself in a valley, perfectly secluded between two towering peaks. True, how do you move forward without letting go of the past and yet how do you move forward and let go of the past. Two extremes that land the thinking man in a deep valley. I guess it’s practically impossible to forget the past or perform acts like ‘forgiving and forgetting’ etc. It’s simply safe to dwell on such pasts but not allowing them determine or affect how you move forward as you take that walk into the future.

  2. Very though provoking post. Needs deep thinking.
Personally, I don't think everyone forgets because if everyone forgets, they are bound to make the same mistake they made in the past again in the future.
But one is not to remember and think of a past in such a way that it wears you down.

I've made decisions. Good decisions and bad decisions. But I have not become a victim of my bad decisions because I didn't stay regretting or forgetting totally about it. I've learnt from it and I've moved forward. One's past molds one's future.

    That's how it should be.

    Thnxx for dropping by.

  3. i believe when God asked us to forgive and forget he didnt actually mean forget totally(i mean no human being can do that),he meant forgive and stop counting that sin against that person and also even if we look back sometimes and remember,we remember it with less hatred and anger.

    p.s:thanks for dropping by.

  4. It is said that the past lays a foundation for the future....but i doubt this...however if our mindset in the past is carried along into the future..i doubt if a change would be effected...
To forget though isn't the easy..we must sometimes for our sanity and peace of mind..

Thanks for coming by mine Dude, really appreciate it...

  5. How does one move forward?
You take times to process things and then you just do...
I just mended a friendship because I was finally able to move past all the hurt in the past...and it feels great.
Time really does heal quite a few wounds...
    Insightful post!

  6. "Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely."

The key is to let go of the negative memories of the past without loosing the experiences gained..

    Thoughtful post..
